PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
• To manage the procurement and associated logistics and on site warehousing of all Company equipment and supplies, timely expediting, receiving, storage and issue of supplies, and the disposal of surplus items. This function covers locally and internationally-sourced services & supplies.
• Lead the Supply Teams to ensure that all activities meet the Company’s business needs and consistently high standards of occupational health, safety, and environment.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Develop, implement and review policies and procedures for the effective purchasing of materials, services and equipment at best competitive cost for quality, reliability and timely delivery.
• Identify dependable and economical suppliers for essential materials, services and equipment.
• Ensure the effective negotiation and establishment of Forward Purchase Agreements with those suppliers.
• Ensure the effective negotiation and establishment of Contracts with external contractors for the performance of services required by the Company.
• Manage the logistics of movement of supplies to ensure safe and timely arrival at the site in support of operational needs, whilst also ensuring deliveries are accurately received and recorded.
• Ensure that goods storage, recording and issue is effectively carried out and stock takes are conducted effectively and on schedule.
• Developing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in Supply strategies, systems and practices that will achieve the optimum results.
• Developing and ensuring the continuous improvement of safety best practice
• Managing the team and setting priorities to ensure that targets are met.
• Ensuring computerized systems requirements are met with data and documentation flow kept current.
• Ensuring compliance with the Company’s Environmental Policies and Procedures.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with post-graduate qualifications in Business or Management.
• A minimum of 10-15 years relevant supply experience within substantial mining or construction companies.
• A solid understanding of integrated financial/management systems with strong Microsoft Office skills being an essential requirement.
• Proficient negotiation, communication and problem solving skills.
• Exceptionally high ethical standards.
